Principal Software Engineer

For our client, an international technology and business services organization supporting global projects across multiple industries, we are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer. The person in this role will take ownership of designing, developing and delivering advanced software, platform and AI-driven solutions for large-scale and complex initiatives. This position is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who can combine deep engineering expertise with strong understanding of business needs, architecture standards and modern AI capabilities.

• Lead the delivery of software, infrastructure or platform engineering solutions within large and complex projects.
• Take responsibility for solution design, development, implementation, maintenance and technical quality.
• Translate business and user requirements into robust technical specifications and scalable engineering solutions.
• Resolve complex technical issues across the development lifecycle, including coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting.
• Provide advanced technical guidance to improve the performance, reliability and value of existing and new solutions.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the implementation of best engineering practices.
• Collaborate closely with development, engineering and architecture teams to build modern, high-quality solutions.
• Act as a technical leader for the project team, ensuring clear expectations, responsibilities, tools and delivery principles.
• Support consistency across processes, standards, technical designs and development practices.
• Contribute to the definition, maintenance and adoption of relevant technology standards.

• Advanced experience in designing, developing and debugging complex software or platform solutions.
• Strong knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: C#, Java or Python.
• More than 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, platform engineering or a similar technical role.
• Solid background in delivering software or platform engineering solutions and providing technical guidance based on business and user needs.
• Experience with CI/CD delivery and tools related to code management, configuration management and automation, such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.
• Practical knowledge of fine-tuning language models for use cases such as text generation, summarization or question answering.
• Understanding of embedding models and their use in NLP tasks, including similarity search, clustering and information retrieval.
• Familiarity with building agentic AI systems that connect AI models with external tools, systems or environments to support autonomous decision-making.
• Ability to design evaluation frameworks for AI models and AI agents, including metrics, A/B testing and performance benchmarking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics or a related field would be an advantage.
• Cloud certifications from major providers would be a plus.
• Experience delivering projects using modern software development methodologies would be beneficial.
• Proven experience with container-based technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker, would be an additional asset.
